The Costa Dorada
Salou is the capital of the Costa Dorada. A strategic point with perfect transport links, only 100 km from Barcelona, 12 km from Tarragona and 10 km from Reus airport, which means that it is easily reached from elsewhere. It forms a perfect triangle with Tarragona and Reus, which are perfect complements to each other.
Tarragona
Tarragona, just 10 km from Salou, has extensive cultural opportunities. Visit Roman Tarragona, considered a World Heritage Site because of the beauty of its historic sights. Reus has become a shopping town, while Salou's leisure facilities are outstanding.
Playas cercanas
Salou has 9 beaches. These are the Playa de Ponent, Playa de Llevant, Capellans, Llenguadets, Playa Llarga, Penya Tallada, Cala Font, Cala Crancs and Cala Vinya.
Around Salou and the Hotel Regente Aragon
The Regente Aragon hotel is situated between the beaches of Playa Ponent and Playa de Llevant. The Playa Ponent is one of the largest beaches in Salou and has fine gold sand. It runs alongside the length of the Paseo Miramar avenue, and is 1 km long. The beach of Playa Llevant is 1,200 m long and runs alongside the length of the Paseo Marítimo de Jaime I esplanade. It is Salou's beach par excellence.
Salou has a marvellous seafront esplanade - the Paseo Marítimo de Jaime I. It starts by the art nouveau-style houses at the Sailing Club and ends in the area with the most entertainment for tourists, at the fountain featuring a light show
Other activities
Apart from beach tourism, Salou also has “Port Aventura,” a theme park divided into 5 areas which depict various worlds and ways of life. It contains attractions to suit all tastes and ages, set in the Wild West, Polynesia, Mexico and China and of course, the Mediterranean. Port Aventura also includes Caribe Park, a water park.
This year, the town's facilities have been expanded to include three golf courses. There are also several golf courses in the area.
In Salou, you can also enjoy sports tourism thanks to the water sports resort. Some of the activities you can enjoy are sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, motorboat racing, water skiing, fishing, catamaran excursions and parasailing.
There is another water park 2 km from Salou, in La Pineda - Aquopolis.
